Pain in lower back, not easing up with rest or meds. What can be wrong?

I'm having some major pain in my lower back right above my right hip. No pain or burning with urination. Thought I slept wrong, took a muscle relaxer but no relief. What is wrong with me? Should I seek Medical attention? Pain feels like an ice pick in the back.
Answer:
I would suggest you seek help, perhaps a chiropractor! I had the same lower back pain (on my left side) due to subluxation. A few spinal adjustments and I felt like a millon bucks.

Pads of fingers hurt from typing...?

Does this happen to anyone else? Like the pads of my fingertips are sore from typing so much on the computer, which I use everyday. The skin is starting to feel tougher in the area too and kind of swelling. It's sort of like when you were a kid and playing on the monkey bars and your hands became sore from it. What can I do?
Answer:

You need a break from the computer! lol

best of luck. my wishes to ya.!!

Oxycotton?

what does it do to you and how many times can u take it before you get serious and sick
Answer:
OxyContin contains oxycodone, a very strong narcotic pain reliever similar to morphine. OxyContin is designed so that the oxycodone is slowly released over time, allowing it to be used twice daily. You should never break, chew, or crush the OxyContin tablet since this causes a large amount of oxycodone to be released from the tablet all at once, potentially resulting in a dangerous or fatal drug overdose.
OxyContin is only intended for moderate to severe pain that is present on a daily basis and that requires a very strong pain reliever. Patients with this type of severe pain condition require daily pain treatment. Taking OxyContin daily can result in physical dependence, a condition in which the body shows signs of narcotic withdrawal if the OxyContin is stopped suddenly. This is not the same thing as addiction, which represents a situation in which people obtain and take narcotics because of a psychological need, and not just to treat a legitimate painful condition. Physical dependence can be treated by slowly under the advice of a physician by slowing decreasing the OxyContin dose when it is no longer needed for the treatment of pain. Concerns of addiction should not prevent patients with appropriate pain conditions from using OxyContin or other narcotics for pain relief.
Do you mean Oxycontin? Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/oxycontin...
Oxycontin is synthetic heroin. It is a very powerful pain killer that shoudl only be used if you are in extreme pain. IT is highly addictive after only a short period of use. I have a friend who literally ruined his life thru an oxycontin addiction. Be careful.
Its oxycontin and I have no idea ask your doctor
It is used for terminal cancer patients for pain, and it will kill you.
Oxycontin is a severe pain killer and is highly addictive. People have died from overdosing as well. Don't take it unless you absolutely need it for excruciating pain.

I sprained my ankle and I'm pretty sure that I should be using crutches
I am also around 5'8
I want to know what height they should be because I have no idea whatsoever and I don't want to get hurt worse
and how to make them more comftorable.
I am also in school son how do I get on the bus
and can you just walk into school(hobble reallly, lol) or do you have to call the school nurse or what.
I really need help because I have crutches at home but I have absolutley no idea how to use them
answers are gratly apprieciated
Thanks =)
Please Help!!!!
Answer:
get your crutches and measure them to your arm pit but not right at your arm pit, a little below then walk around with them a little bit you'll get use to it. If you have stairs, you should practice first so you dont fall down. first put your good foot on the stair get your balance then put the crutches on the stairs. It take some getting use to but you can do it. I had to use them for a year because my brother stomped on my foot and broke almost every bone. ( It was nice) He had to be my slave! Good luck

My mouth, lately, has been really wet. I start to speak to someone and my mouth gets so much saliva in it that every time I open my mouth you can see, feel, and hear the saliva in it. It's really gross. Is there any way to fix this?

Overdose????

My mum thinks that I have been taking an overdose of my medication

But I haven't why is she thinking this and is there anyway I can stop her thinking this I have said that I haven't but she just keeps on thinking that
Answer:
maybe she just worries about you. what about labelling your medication, or seperating it into daily amounts
Run away from home
what's the drug your on??
what's your questiion?
tell her if she dont know she aint sopost to talk
if its tablets count out whats left then show her how many are gone from the date you got them
mums are just very suspicious lol
What meds are you taking?
Maybe you need to have your mom give you the meds so that she feels safe that you are not overdoing it.
RELY ON Y/A ?---I'D PREFERR TO OBTAIN A CORRECT ANSWER FROM MY PERSONAL M.D. !
sit her down and talk to her about it, tell her to give you the correct dose daily until she can trust you.
Allow her to see how much medication is left. If she persists in thinking you overdosed, offer to have her take to to the hospital to be checked. I don't know why she would think that unless you are acting different or have physical symptoms which you haven't mentioned here. You might be getting sick. Sometimes illness can cause people to act in ways that appear drugged.
Sounds like your mam is worried about you.All mums worry try not to let it get you down she is only looking out for you.You could if it is tablets give her them to count then she might get off your back.
Hi,

my mum is like this when it comes to my eating disorder, she doesn't believe me and can say hurtful things which makes me feel worse. It depends how you feel about her doubting you, as to what you should do. If you are angry and feel that you shouldn't be made feel this way and need some control, tell her in a mature way that you are hurt by what she is saying and ask her to trust you. Or practically you could tell her to count the tablets to show you haven't overdosed, or let her keep your tablets and she can administer them..mums are like this..you could also ask someoen else to speak to her that you trust and who trusts you such as another adult or your family doctor/counsellor or teacher etc

best of luck
xxx
Print her this page.

Then she'll see that your telling the truth, and she'll see that I gave you the idea to tell her and you didn't just make this all up

good luck
take care
Just sit her down and give her some reassurance, mums are meant to fuss
You should have a serious talk with ur mom. Show her wat u take and wats left. and dont run away...thats not the answer... just be serious and mature with her
give ur mum ur meds and then she wont be suspicious then!simple!
r u on tablets...if so shes probably been checkn da bottle...there cud b a numba of reason ave u asked her?

Overdose? Or scare?

Our friend did two tabs of ecstacy on an empty stomach. She started convulsing and going in and out of consiousness. Her temperature rose. However, she is slowly getting back to herself. She is no longer convulsing, and her temperature is back to normal. She doesn't want to go to the hospital. Should we take her anyway, or has the worst part passed already? She's been like this for about 4 hours.
Answer:
ABSOLUTELY without question take her to the hospital, I mean immediately. My sister lost a best friend based on extremely similar instances as you have stated about your friend. It doesn't matter that she doesn't want to go to the hospital she is not completely coherent, and you are not a Doctor which means no one knows what is going on with her heart, her brain, her blood flow, get her to the hospital. The consequences are much smaller then her slipping into a coma or worse.
I would suggest to take her , however if she is very insistant on not going than make sure you have her drink LOTS of water and maybe try to eat something.
I'd take her anyway to get checked out. Could you live with yourself if she suddenly had a relapse and came off worse?
get to the er and fast- call an ambulance. and get counseling on stopping ecstasy. This is serious stuff- it is attempted suicide EVERY time you try it.
she needs to be evaluated asap at the nearest emergency room.

she could have suffered minor brain damage due to using the drugs (i've known cases of people dying on their first try w/this ecstasy stuff-they slipped into a coma and died).

the fact that she lost consiousness is reason enough for her to be seen. this means that her brain was deprived of oxygen for however long she was passed out.

take her in and get her checked out-make sure to tell the hospital staff EXACTLY what happened (and what she took), they cannot and will not turn her in for the drug use, they will only treat her symptoms.

LATE ENTRY-as a nurse-if one of my friends was in that situation-i would still advise them to go to the er. vitals signs (breathing rate, pulse, etc) cannot tell you whether or not she's had a stroke or suffered other brain damage. i would strongly advise your friend to go in to be checked out. she could get very sick later on and could possibly pass out again and slip into a coma.
I can't believe your actually still sitting at the computer. She's sick you dumb f**k
why are you asking us? you should of taken her to the ER
Why didn't someone take her in while she was convulsing? I would take her in to the E.R. just to be safe. Oh! why do young people want to mess around with these drugs? They are so dangerous! Does she know how very lucky she is to still be alive. I hope that she never takes this stuff again weather she takes it on a full or empty stomach!
Nothing good every comes from recreational drug use. So many young people die everyday! So much danger!
YES, SHE HAS OVERDOSED, IF U LOVE UR FRIEND %26 CARE ANYTHING ABOUT HER U WOULD SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT SEEKING MEDICAL HELP!

Overactive Bowel?? is there a term for this? what could it be??

I usually goto the bathroom (#2) once a day, at about 3pm...everyday, its the same.. i have been sick with gastritis for like 2 weeks...and am FINALLY feeling a lot better...BUT

BUT

i goto the bathroom @ about 9:30am, 10:30am, and 11:30am...so i go 3 times, taking a full bowel movement, and it looks healthy (brown) and it somewhat soft.

anyone have any ideas?
Answer:
maybe lingering bug from the gastritis
or you may be eating too much fiber
or you could stop your multi-vitamin for a week and see if that helps

Over hydrated?

Is it possible to become over hydrated?? I drink about 4 litres or more of water every day, and never drink pop, coffee, tea, etc. I only drink water and 1 cup of milk a day, and 1 serving of cranberry juice a day.
To sound gross, when I urinate, my urine is usually crystal clear.
Is there such a thing as being too hydrated? If so, why is it bad to be over hydrated? Symptoms, effects, etc?

Oh and should also ask- when you are really well hydrated and all of the sudden your urine goes from clear to BRIGHT yellow despite drinking a lot, is it cause for concern? I am 36 weeks pregnant, if that has anything to do with it.
Answer:
I'm not sure if too much water is a bad thing. If your an athlete there is a chance you may face hyponatremia (which can be fatal) because you're losing salt and water but only replacing water, but in a typical day I don't think water would be too harmful.

Clear urine around 2-4 times a day is actually a good way to indicate that your body is getting enough water, so that shouldn't be a concern. As for suddenly turning yellow, that could depend on your diet. Excess vitamin b2 (riboflavin) gets excreted through urine, and gives it a bright yellow color if it exists in large quantities. So if you happen to take multivitamins, or consume a lot of milk, cheese, leafy green vegetables, almonds, or anything else with this vitamin, it could explain the sudden change in color.
I wouldn't worry...you must make alot of trips to the bathroom...and the more hydrated you are when you deliver the easier it is for you to deliver...so go ahead, and I am very sure the Dr. in this case will be very happy...Good luck to you Sweetie, and God Bless Your New Baby...
No, you can't get over hydrated. It's actually good that your urine is clear, because that means that you have enough water in your system.

Outside of my nose is itchy!?

Every once in a while, the outside -- not inside -- of my nose gets really itchy, and I scratch it until it bleeds or is too raw to touch anymore. Does anyone know why my nose gets itchy? I have seen no pattern to when I itch, it just happens. Can someone help me?

Thanks a lot!

Amanda June
Answer:
If you drink 8 -10 oz glasses of water per day your nose and skin will not be dry and itch. Itchy skin is a lack of water in your system . Caffine dries out your cells, so don't drink a lot of caffine products. Chocolate included. Use a mild skin cream, but be sure to wash your skin before going to sleep.
TRY SOME AVEENO OATMEAL LOTION. DRY SKIN AND ALLERGIES. IF IT DOESN'T STOP, SEE A DERMETOLOGIST OR AN ALLERGIST. ALSO TRY SOME HYDROCORTISONE CREAM.
well, you have an itch, maybe get some itch cream, try that
Go to your dermatologist, maybe you get some allergy reaction.

Out of curiousity?

Would you consider yourself average, overweight, underweight, obese, or what? Be honest. Everyone is small according to their avatar.
Answer:
I am overwieght. I'm a big guy and carry it well, but I'd love to lose 50 pounds.
Gosh, I didn't know I could make a large avatar! Cool!

I used to be extremely thin. Now I have a thyroid problem and consider myself a tad above average. (Okay, I feel overweight, but according to charts I'm just fine)
Underweight. I really don't enjoy eating that much because of my IBS.
Overweight
i am average, but my head is ACTUALLY as small as my avatar..

Out of curiosity...?

for those who are completely against the medical use of Marijuana, what do you think of this statement I found on Wikipedia.
"A recent study by scientists in Italy has also shown that cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical found in marijuana, seriously inhibits the growth of cancer cells (including breast cancer) in animals."
Answer:
I do not doubt the medical benefits of medicinal marijuana, especially here in USA. THe problem is how do we regulate it so that it doesnt get in the wrong hands such as young teens, etc.

Also, if we allow legalization of marijuana, some people will believe that other "hard drugs" like cocaine should be legalized.

You don't have to take my word for it; these issues have been debated in congress for several years now. And you better believe it that some of these politicians are smoking some weed (and other drugs) and then speaking to the public about prohibiting marijauana. Hypocrites.
Leave it in the medical community and remove politics from the debate for best result.
Well I live in Italy and I can tell you that the sciences here are not given as much credence as studies done in the United States because the technology here is so behind. I'd say that I'd need a study for a more credible source than this country.
When the medical profession is more intent on money and funding for research than in looking for cures, you see that there is no way they want something as simple as marijuana to take the spotlight. We have heard that marijuana does indeed help not only cancer but is a painkiller that has less side effects than many medicines that are on the market today. To ignore possible cures because of their connotation is just plain stupid.
It is just that Marijuana is good for some things and bad for other things. In the near future it will be used by prescription for the good things it does for some people.

My breast cancer treatment consisted of a mixture of things. One was made from a yew tree. We use bee %26 snake venom, trees, barks, molds and fungi to make meds. Why is it so hard for politians to understand we should look into cannibis as well. People abuse alcohols, and prescription drugs, and I don't see anyone rushing to rid the world of those.
i dont really know a lot about marijuana being used for medical purposes. But for future references wikipedia does not always have the most accurate information since anyone can go on the site and change the words around.
for medical purposes i have no problems for marijuana being used. but only for medical purposes and only with a prescription from a licenced doctor.

Out of breath and heart beating rapidly...at rest?

I'm just sitting doing nothing and I have difficulty breathing and my heart is beating really fast. I'm 16 and female, no history of asthma. Not overweight.
What's wrong?
Answer:
It might be caused by medications, herbal suppliments, panic attack or stress.
Are ya high on meth? jk... call doc and check it out...if you lay on your bed with feet up on the wall, your heart will quicklly slow down a bit
Do you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks?

Our babysitter's house has fleas and she has bites. Can she infest our house?

Answer:
Yes, if she carries them in on her clothing etc. I would recommend to her that her family buy BORAX and sprinkle it all over the carpets, furniture, animals bedding and rub it in really good. Then let it sit there for 7 days and vacuum it up.
We have 2 outdoor cats and our house was INFESTED with fleas. Bombs didn't kill any of them. The borax had our house flea free in 1 week.
Good luck.
Yes
yes dont let her in till you know for sure they are gone!!!
YES.
Yes.

She can bring them in on her clothes, in her purse, etc...
Yup, the fleas can hitch a ride on her.
Yes, they can come in on her clothes or shoes, in her purse, etc.
You need to have her not watch your kid, sounds like there is a public health issue here. If she brings a few fleas over (in her hair) then they can settle in you kids hair or your carpet or your dog... I recomend you have her get that cleared up.
Yes, she can. Those nasty little things are probably in her clothes or on her body.

If you still want her to babysit, you're going to have to treat your house for fleas, too! :-(
yes... they like to travel on clothing and in hair... ugh... that sucks! maybe flea bomb your house and that'll kill the ones that she brings over... or suggest to the babysitter to flea bomb her house... not sure how you'd bring that up... "Hey, babysitter... flea bombing is fun, you should try it!"
Yes, just walking thru a yard with fleas can bring them into your home. They get on your clothes, shoes, and in your hair. If the babysitter's house has fleas, then you will most likely have them in your car as well. Find a new babysitter, or help her rid of the infestation.
More important, why would you leave your child in a house infested with fleas? They will bite your child too! Yes, you can bring them home! I'd find a new sitter, pronto!
yes / she can

Ouch... sore throat, what do you think it is?!?

I've had a sore throat for a couple days now (got really bad day before yesterday) It's only the left side of my throat, and my gland is swelled right up too. Hurts to move neck its so swollen. I've been really tired and every part of my body aches. What do you think it is? Tonisilitis? or Strepthroat? Have a Dr. appointment this morning, just curious what you think...
Answer:
I had a simple (although painful) throat infection after the flu that sounds similar. You're doing the right thing by going to the doctor this morning. After you get your meds, you should feel better in no time.
dont know what it is but what helps is to get a cup of water as hot as you can handle it put salt in it and garggle
..Yep. Tonsil on the left. No need to Panic.Penicillin is fast and reliable for most people.
COULD BE A GANGLEON, TAKE CARE.MATE
Yes gargling warm salt water is an excellent thing to do while you wait for your doctor appointment. You can also try sucrets.
It honestly sounds like strep throat to me. Until you see your DR try gargling w/warm salt water. That does help with pain. Take Tylenol also. Good luck.
It really sounds a lot like mononucleosis to me. If your strep test comes back negative I would ask the doctor to test you for mono.

Ouch. Please help me =(?

I was playing with my friend at field day yesterday and my hand collided very hard with her knuckle and her knee. Today my hand still really hurts and I'm concerned because one of the times that my hand hit her knee I got a stinging and tingling sensation in that hand and I heard that that is a one of the factors of a broken hand. Also one spot on my hand is very tender and it hurts if even a light tap or brush is placed onto it. if I push down on the spot even lightly I get a burning/stinging sensation that gets worse as you push harder untill you almost start to cry because the pressure being pushed onto it hurts alot. My other friend also didnt know that I had hurt it and she slapped my hand accidently and it hurt. It hurts when I wright, dangle it,basically when I do anything that involves my hand it is painful although some things are more irritating than others.
Answer:
you must have a fracture, a small crack in the bone.
You didnt hear a crack or a snaping sound did you, i mean when i broke my wrist and when i cracked it i hear it both times, but that was just me, you didnt break it, thats for sure, you might have a hair line, or a slight crack in the hand,

or it could be brused really bad, and thats why you have this side effects..

Other than genetics, what minor factors play a role in determining the height of an individual?

Answer:
the food that you eat, and the location. believe it or not, if you go to the moon, you will likely grow a little bit taller due to less gravity.

and exercise also keeps the body healthy, indirectly, it can keep the person growing a little bit taller.

also, "growth hormone" also makes a person grow a little taller, however, too much of that can cause a person to grow too tall.
going to gym and doing weight lifting from your young age will reduce you height...
I believe drinking plenty of milk or taking calcium supplements when you're younger will help your bones grow stronger and faster.

Drinking coffee or anything with caffeine has been rumored to stunt your growth too. But like I said, it's a rumor. Nothing has ever been proven.
This is going to sound funny but my son is convinced that chicken has made him grow tall. I tend to believe that the growth hormones in meat probably do have something to do with the way people are growing taller these days. My son is 16 and is 6'7 the tallest person on either side of his family is 6'3 so genetics aren't totally responsible for his height. He also adds that when he was a little kid he prayed every night to be 6'6 so he could play professional basketball...so I guess alittle prayer doesn't hurt.

OTC Sleep Aid?

I haven't been sleeping at all well lately so I tried Melatonin. That didn't do much. My DR suggested I take Benedryl at night and that doesn't help either. I need some sleep. Anyone recommend a OTC Natural Sleep Aid?
Answer:
Have you simply try some herbal tea? I personally recommend you to try Camomile Tea. About 30 minutes before you go to bed, drink a cup, relax on the couch or bed, and see what happens.

It usually helps me especially when I am stressed out. And, it is better than keep trying all the chemicals for your sleep:-)
Virtually every OTC sleep aid contains the same ingredient as Benedryl. Tell the doc you want to try Lunesta. I've been taking it for 6 months. Almost every night. Works great. No hangover. Non habit forming. What more could you ask?

Answer:
I find that the store brand of Tylenol PM works the best. However, most sleep aides that are OTC contain Diphenhydramine HCI...otherwise known as Benedryl.
Advil PM works really well for me.
Well you should talk to your doctor and ask him to prescribe something better like Lunesta, Prozac, maybe valium or others...
But if u wanna stay trying by yourself u can buy Unisom, if u r not pregnant, nursing a baby, or have glaucoma, asthma or ephysema.

OTC remedies for Acid Reflux?

What is your preference of over the counter treatment for this disease?

Thank you!!
Answer:
I tried all the Prilosec meds and Tums and everything, and the thing that worked best for me was changing my diet. I took out all the acidic foods and soda, and it has almost entirely cleared up.
Pepcid AC Complete is the best one that I've tried. Lately though, we've been using just the soft chewable Rolaids, they work really fast.
Gaviscon
Prilosec it works the best and the longest

Osgood schlatter disease??

The last month, I felt certain pain by my knees and they are still hurting. I did not suffer from any injury though. It is more prominent in the left but I have some in the right too.The pains are sharp but not permanent, I just have them a couple of times a day.

Background info:
I am a13 year old male(I turn 14 in this month). I am currently 5'7 1/2. When I was 12 I was 5'3 (dont know if this was a growth spurt). Small parents (5'7, 5'5) and tall realtives (male: 5'11 over female 5'8 over). I play basketball.

Do you think I reached my adult height?
How much do you think ill grow?
How long will it take for me to have my growth spurt?
How long does this disease last?
How much can you grow through that period of time?
How do you know if I have recovered (any signs symptoms)?
Can you grow after you've had osgood schlatter disease?
Answer:
It is believed that Osgood-Schlatter disease results from the pull of the large powerful muscles in the front of the thigh (called the quadriceps). The quadriceps join with the patellar tendons, which run through the knee and into the tibia, to connect the muscles to the knee. When the quadriceps contract, the patellar tendons can start to pull away from the shin bone, causing pain.

This problem becomes more noticeable during activities that require running, jumping or going up or down stairs. It's most common in young athletes who play football, soccer or basketball or are involved in gymnastics and ballet.

Osgood-Schlatter disease usually goes away with time. When your child stops growing, the pain and swelling should go away because the patellar tendons become much stronger. Only rarely does Osgood-Schlatter disease persist beyond the growing stage.
First of all we can't assume it's Osgood-Schlatter disease unless you were told so by your doctor. My friend has it and she actually has a lump right under the knee cap. It's not very big. She experiences pain when she is active so like when she is running as fast as she can, it'll start to hurt. She's 14 and is 6' so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Usually you outgrow it as you finish growing. So if you're really worried about it, tell your parents, and ask them to see an orthopedist (actually you should see your normal doctor first and he'll tell you and your parents if you need to see an orthopedist or not) It's not a very big deal but it might limit you from doing certain things. Now that I think about it, the disease affects people with major growth spurts, and 5'3" to 5'7" is definately one. (I'm 15 and I'm 5'8" and two years before I was 5"6') Just see you're doctor, he will treat you, and you will be back to your usual self hopefully. Good luck with it, it'll go away eventually so don't worry too much about it.

My coach and nurse told me I had osgood schlatter disease. I did self investigation and I would like to ask some questions please:

How long does it take for me to have my growth spurt?
How long does this disease last?
How much can you grow through that period of time?
How do you know if I have recovered (any signs symptoms)?
Can you grow after you've had osgood schlatter disease?

Answer:
Hi : )

While your nurse and coach may have the best intentions, I'm not sure they're able to give you an accurate diagnosis. Please check with a physician and take a look at the information and link below so you'll be informed when you do : )

Osgood-Schlatter disease is an overuse condition that causes swelling and tenderness at the bony prominence (tibial tuberosity) just below the knee. It is among the common sources of knee pain in young athletes and tends to affect children during the growth spurt of their pre-teen or teenage years. The frequency of the condition is not known.

It is named after two physicians, Dr. Robert Osgood and Dr. Carl Schlatter, who defined the disease in 1903. It is also known as osteochondrosis.

Parents and children should not ignore symptoms related to Osgood-Schlatter disease. Trying to play through the pain will likely make the condition even worse. For most children, Osgood-Schlatter disease disappears over a period of between six months to 24 months, although it can take longer and symptoms tend to come and go. Once a child stops growing, the tibial growth plate fuses and patellar tendons strengthen and the pain permanently disappears.

My brother had the same problem when he was about your age. He had to stop running track, at that point. My cousin, an orthopaedic specialist told him that he needed to do less intense excercise, like swimming, until his muscle development caught up to his bone development.

I am not certain of the specifics - but I know by the time puberty is over, it will be over as well. Just relax and grow into your full potential!
i too was diagnosed with osgood schlatter's many years ago. it's very common. the pain is caused by your bones growing so fast that the muscles can't keep up and are being stretched, causing the pain. i was about 13 also and i'll say that it takes some time for the pain to go away but it will all depend on how fast you are growing and how much you grow.i was 5'10" at 13. i was one of the tallest girls in school. simply put, it's growing pains. i know that sounds dumb but that's exactly what it is. the doctor prescribed somthing to help with the inflammation. you can grow after you have the disease. once you hit a plateau and your muscles catch up, it won't be so hard. hang in there.

Ortheopadic Surgeon?

Im not sure exactly what they do. But I was thinking about it and it seems like something interesting to do. I know they operate on bones... [right?] But what exactly do they do, and is it a job that brings in good money?
Answer:
Orthopods (as they are often called in the health care field) see patients to evaluate their need for surgery involving bones (although not facial bones or vertebrae). They operate as a last resort, and often prescribe physical therapy, exercise and lifestyle change.
Just like any other physician, one must graduate with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, attend a medical school and then complete a residency in surgery. Usually after the residency, there is an orthopedic fellowship.
Once all of that is finished and an orthopod has a practice, a good amount of money is made.

Organic - vs - Genitically Engineered?? Which do you choose? I say 'all natural'?

In special mention today on MSN, there have been several investigations into the foods that Americans consume daily. According to the reports all those luscious, huge strawberries we eat as well as other exceptionally 'large' fruits and veggies are that way for one reason. They ARE 'G.E.' foods.

There are also other organizations which would like to curtail the use of manure for organic farming because of the e-coli bacteria. However, there ARE alternatives to manure such as 'fish emulsion'...or other safe and natural fertilizers.

The argument with me is, is that when we were kids (back in the 50's) we ate fruits from the orchards never having to even think about e-coli and NONE of us died...nor were ever sick before they began 'altering' foods one way or another. There was NO 'mad cow disease' and we let the cattle graze on the grasses the land had to offer, without worry of pestisides. They didn't CHARGE MORE for foods grown or cattle raised without these things. WHY NOW?
Answer:
We raise our own cows, hogs, chickens, vegetables and fruits .We use mulch and heirloom seeds .The thought of the genetically altered seeds and animals scare me to death.Think about the calves recently born with two extra legs and the one born with two noses.
Organic
I don't know, but we have started to grow our own vegetables, a few fruits.
I tell you what its all B.S. the American standerd for "Organic" is very low, There is allowed like some two punds of rat fececes to be allowed within a 10x10 area of our food, like at McDonalds or Wendy's. The USDA standard has dropped so dramatically that the pestecided and other chem. they dump over all our produce is enough to seriously compare to the Holocaust. Organic is great but it shouldnt be more expensive like it is, i mean organic means from the earth why pay more for somthing that cost less to produce?

But I guess thats just our greedy capitalist way, rape and pillage to get to the top. **** it though, im sticking to only eating bugs and other protein i can get my hands on.

Options after Medicaid is revoked for presciption drug coverage?

My friend suffers from bipolar disorder. They were on Medicaid to help with the medications for awhile, now their condition has improved and Medicaid has notified them that they are losing their coverage because they are fucntioning again, even though they have a chronic condition and no way to pay for their medicine, so they'll just go back to where they were before when Medicaid stops. My friend is in school and will graduate by December and hopes to have a job and insurance then. They are appealing Medicaid's decision, but they don't have much hope. They have also applied for prescription assistance. We're both from Indiana. Does anyone know what other options my friend might have in order to get help with their medicines? Thanks.
Answer:
Sad
Yes. WalMart and Target sell hundreds of their maintenance medications (and that usually covers bipolar medications) for $4.00.

Please call them and find out.
legal aid scouts,churches,welfare.
It is horrible that our goverment does this. My sister has gone through the same thing treated for the same thing. Then when they assumed she was better they revoked her card as well. They she really sank pretty low and ended in a psychiatric ward. I would contact the doctors office and see if they know of any persons you can talk to or guide for some public assistance.

Good luck to your friend!
There is a program that really helps. I can't think of the name but contact Montel Williams (host of tv show). He promotes this program to help as many ppl as he can.
Thank Reagan for this one. I'm also from Indiana. Look into Catholic Charites.

Online Prescription? Legal / Illegal?

Is buying a NON-CONTROLLED substance (Tramadol/Ultram) online legal?

I understand that it is a prescription medication, but seeing as it's not a controlled substance I wasn't sure if it's legal or not.

Yes I understand that drugs such as Vicodin/Oxycontin/Valium/Xanax... etc., are not legal to buy online, but I know this is because they are controlled substances. The entire issue is kind of confusing to me.

Simply put: Can I buy the non-controlled substance Tramadol with an online medical prescription and an online pharmacy?
Answer:
They are NOT illegal. Did you guys miss the news about the State Government of Minnesota buying their medication from Canada? "Meanwhile, several states -- including Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois -- offer information or programs about importing drugs from Canada. For example, consumers can access the Minnesota consumer information by going to minnesotarxconnect.com. The state has reviewed the Canadian pharmacies listed on the site." That quote is from a very unreputable source, the wallstreet journal, lol. http://online.wsj.com/article/sb11795276...
I have been buying several types of medication from sites like http://www.rxmex.net and http://www.4-rx.net and a couple others and have always received more than my moneys worth. You can bury your head in the sand if you like, but it is legal to purchase up to a 90 days supply from abroad as long as it is not a controlled substance, eg, vicodin, oxycontin, etc.
Hope this helps someone.
Controlled or non controlled if you do not have a script you can not get meds on line. Except there are hundreds of web sites that you can pay for a consultation with a doctor on the phone and get anything you want including controlled substances over nighted to you legally. Although some states have band shipments .because these scripts are written by a doctor and filled at a us pharmacy they are legal. However you do have to provide copies of medical records that would indicate that you need these meds. all in all the process w/ over night delivery takes about 48hrs.

Online Prescription Question? Please advise!?

I was wondering whether ordering prescription medications online (the site claims to have physicians that issue the prescription) is legal? I am NOT [NOT] NOT referring to CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES like Oxycontin/Vicodin/Valium/Xanax etc., but rather I want to purchase UNCONTROLLED substances.

I am ordering online because my doctor's office is closed for the entire week due to vacation, and I really need to get my prescription in the next day or two.

Sorry if this sounds confusing, i'll try to ask it as basic as possible..

Question: Is ordering NON-controlled prescription medication online legal or illegal?

Thank you!
Answer:
I think it is legal if it is not controlled drug. However recently the FDA posted tests on some drugs bought online that contained completely different drugs. Some were major antipsychotic drugs sold as ambien sleeping pills and stuff like that. The quality control is not always good so you are taking a major risk that way.
it is legal, but be careful that you are getting the right pills.sometimes i've heard of some screwups.be careful
Go to www.onlinesolution4u.com controlled meds, and non controlled meds.you have to emoneygram funds or western union funds. Very reliable takes two weeks to recieve meds . I had no problem with them) .Also try Epharmacywatch.com for reference sites 4 us based pharmacies, and over sees pharmacies, the site is free, and over sees pharmacies require no consult or prior Rx

Answer:
Drug

2-3 days

Amphetamine (metabolite of methamphetamine)
7-34 hours

Heroin
60-90 minutes

Alcohol (ethanol)

Blood levels fall by an average of 15-18 mg/ 100 ml/hour
1.5-12 hours, depending on the peak blood level; urine is typically positive for an additional 1-2 hours
Man, you are in trouble !

Better stop now.

;)
Don't do that kind of stuff.
Use smokes.
Don't drink for a few days, drink a ton of water and the weed may be out in 2 weeks. To be safe I would say 3-4 weeks with a ton of water being taken in every day.
30 Days - However you can flush your system with green tea and a lot of water.
One puff of marijuana will not show up on a drug test.

It only takes a month to leave your system if you are a heavy smoker. I know several people who have taken drug tests within a week of stopping smoking and passed.

But if you wanna be extra cautious, work out and run alot b/c THC (the drug in marijuana) is fat soluble not water soluble.
It shouldnt do much but it will still show up. Flush out your system as much as possible. Alcohol comes out of your system way faster than marijuana will. You should be good in about two weeks. Good luck!
ok i know u did! but if u need to get it out of your seystem drink vinigar-i am sorry it's so sick but do it or you'll regret it! I'm not going to school you on drugs are bad ur not retarted so justdrink as much vinigar as you can hold(literally) and get the herbel green tea stuff-it's a drink like it has a chineese lady on it and it's dietary! i think that that would work-i've heard about it!!!-i hope u don't drop dirty
One puff doesn't leave your system any quicker than 50 puffs. It takes 30 days for your system to fully flush out any traces of marijuana. Alcohol leaves the body much quicker, you should be safe 3-4 days after your last drink. Most employers who do test for alcohol do so by breath, and that's normal after about 12 hours, depending on the amount of alcohol you ingested.

Keep in mind though that many employers don't use the standard urine tests anymore. They do cheek swabs or hair strand tests...for a cheek swab it can take up to a year to become undetectable, for a hair strand test, well you'll test positive forever, just at different levels.
your fine=)
You should be fine. If you have concerns you can buy an over the counter drug test at most major drugstores. Alcohol is usually out of your system pretty quickly and you will not be tested for it since the test requires you to be drunk (i.e. breathalyzer). I administer drug tests on a daily basis. I wanted to see if they were valid so a smoked a joint one weekend and gave myself a drug test on the following Monday. It was clean. It only takes approximately 30 days when you are a habitual smoker. Ignore people who tell you that one puff will take 30 days to leave your system. I promise it won;t. Don't waste your time drinking vinegar, that's just gross. Just don't smoke anymore until you get your drug test.
According to "pops", it would appear that heroin is clearly the drug of choice.
drug tests have a tolerance level that is accomodated for and if you truly took "one"puff then you will be fine but do drink plently of water, and you can take niacin to help elminate your puff. Definitely don't drink for 48-72 hours and be sure that you drink all you can hold before you go for the test. It can be detected if your electrolytes and potassium is low in a urine test, alcohol . Good Luck but straighten up if you really want the job
Alcohol leaves your system pretty fast...no matter how much you drink...it will be gone 1-2 days after you stop. Weed lasts up to a month...but one puff? haha that won't show up...

One of my knees, when I walk too much, burns and i feel pain and ache. What type of shoes should I wear?

Answer:
Get some Asics. I just got some for running and I'm not getting shin splints as much now. Also you might want to add some cushioning heel inserts. It will help take some more of the pressure off your legs.

One of my knees burn a lot after I walk and climp up n down the stairs a lot. Why? What happened to my knee?

Answer:
you might have an inflammation around the joint, how old are you could it be arthritis?best go see your doctor,if not then take some anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen etc.keep your leg straight out not folded when sitting and make sure you have good shoes!i have bad knees from horseback riding thats what i do.also i have a pair of tennis shoes that are just for in the house no bare feet my doctor said.this will also help your heels and ankles.
sounds like you have Bursitis

One more question regarding vomiting?

When im about to, i burp alot..odd. and My mouth gets really dry, and i can't swallow.
I also go cold really really fast.
Is that normal?
Answer:
YES!
Go to a doctor - random people on Yahoo shouldn't be trusted with your health.
At least you don't do it in your sleep. Sometimes I will do this a little and although it isn't enough for it to go all over the place, it's enough to leave me gasping for air and it's really scary because I have to force the air in and out with loud wheezing gasps.

One Eye Dilated?!?

Hello. I take allergy shots and i came home from getting my shots and when i looked , my left eye ,the pupile is huge and in my right eye it is normal size. It has been like this for 2hrs. But i also wear contacts. Is this an allergict reactshion or just my contacts. Please do not answers if you do not knwo what you are talk ing about. Thank you!
Answer:
It could be several things. Have you recently hit your head on that side. If so, there could be a serious problem and you should seek medical attention now! It also could be an allergic reaction. If your pupil does not reduce in size my tomorrow morning, see your doctor ASAP.
sounds like a brain hemorrhage.
Which side is the light? It may be lighter on one side than the other eye?
May I suggest that if you don't want answers from people who 'don't know what they are talking about' then you ask your doctor/hospital rather than post on here?
For one so high and mighty maybe it's time you learnt to spell or get your eyes fixed!

Yo.
not a good sign--please go to the emergency room or ophthalmologist as soon as possible---having one dilated pupil isn't good----good luck!
Hi star,

obviously i cannot be sure what is wrong with you as i am not medically trained however, one morning i woke up and looked in the mirror and seen the same thing, one eye was more dialted than the other, i panicked and passed out..i ended up having to go to A%26E and when i told them they weren't bothered..they took my blood pressure and i was fine, so perhaps you are also... however, my eyes did not stay that way for as long as yours...it would be an idea to ring an out of hours doctor and speak to someone just to make sure you are ok or if you are in the uk ring the NHS direct telephone number!

Best of luck!

xxx
If you normally have allergy shots %26 normally wear contacts then it might not be a reaction to contacts. Go for an eye examination as soon as possible as it could be anything ! Have you taken any medication that you dont normally take / as this could possibly react with your allergy shot.
See you're optician or GP ASAP. This may be nothing or it could be a sign of a very serious underlying problem. Do not ignore this symptom hoping it will go away. best of luck!
The sudden onset of anisocoria, unequal pupils, is worrisome. I assume you didn't have anyone put drops in your eye before this happened.

If it is the left eye that is larger than normal and reacts poorly to light, that is, it does not constrict very much when you shine a light in it, you would have to consider pressure on the third cranial nerve on the left side. You would want to rule out abnormal pressure on that side of the brain. This can be an emergency.

If it is the right eye that is abnormally small, I suppose the situation is less urgent, but I am not absolutely sure of this.

My recommendation would be to see an ophthalmologist (MD or DO) or a neurologist promptly. If it is after office hours as it is here in the Eastern Daylight time zone, you could go to an emergency room. At least, you should call your doctor. I hope he/she doesn't blow it off.
Have you used any eye drops? Most of the over-the-counter products, such as Visine, are topical decongestants -- they constrict the dilated blood vessels (a process called vasoconstriction). That's what gets the red out. if not, I would suggest calling the doc to ease your mind.

Once in the vein, does the draw back of too much blood, lessen the strenght of an injection?

Answer:
Would the same amount of medicine still go into the body?

Would the blood total change due to what was drawn into the syringe?

NOPE - no change
draw back of blood? you shouldnt be drawing back ANY blood when you inject something into your body!
if you are injecting something, why would you draw back ANY blood?? it shouldnt lessen the strenghth unless you draw back blood that has the drug in it. ALWAYS USE A CLEAN NEEDLE (well, you shouldnt be injecting yourself anyway, because that means its no flu vaccine ;) )

On my way to emergency room. Any predictions?

I went skydiving a week ago for the first time. Jumped at 14,000 feet. Freefell for 65 seconds then pulled the chute. During freefall the onrush of air into the lungs is unpleasant at best. The G forces pulled when the chute deploys is extreme.

After landing, I felt tremendous outward pressure on my ears and in my head.
Have had this pressure for the last week similar to an ear infection with some loss of hearing and serious pressure headache.
Nausea started 2 days ago.
This morning I have blood coming up in my sinuses.
What should I expect to find out at the ER?
Answer:
Ruptured Eardrum
maybe you have decompression sickness

they'll probably put you in a re compression chamber
And you found time to write this long @ss question and verbose statement on Y!A.

It must not be serious.
you might have busted a eardrum

On my upper rite side i have a sharp stinging pain rite under my breast it is also numb on the skin.?

i am also pregnant
Answer:
i'm 27 weeks pregnant...and i've been told that it's normal...
It's normal.Don't worry too much. If you feel more pain, find a doctor.

On average how long does a broken arm need to be in plaster?

Answer:
Depends on the break. If its a fracture it can sometimes be splintered apart at various angle if its over a certain amount they may want to reset it. Sometimes they can change their mind over this after you arm has already been in plaster for a couple of weeks. Its usually about 6 to 8 weeks though.
6 to 8 week
6 weeks.
4 to 6 weeks on average, sometimes it could take 8 weeks all depending on the location and typed of break
Usually 6 weeks, then they take plaster off, x-ray limb and as long as the limb has healed properly, they will leave plaster off.
Six weeks - don't take it off early like me and then have problems with it forever!
Right around 7 weeks. Been there, done that. I had a little boy trip me on the playground in 4th grade on purpose and then he said he'd do it again if he had the chance. It sucked, i couldn't do my hair or anything. So trust me, 7 weeks is a long time chicka hehe

On and off fever, what could it be?

k so for the last 3 days I have had on and off low to medium grade fever, throughout the night I kept waking up sometimes burning sometimes freezing, I also have a cough and am short of breath, I am going to a doctor, but does anyone here know what can be causing inconsistent fever?
Answer:
You probably have a cold or even the flu. If you're too uncomfortable see a doctor and get a shot of Celestone and an Rx for some good cough syrup. If it doesn't go away within two weeks see a doctor for sure.
It might just be the way your body is fighting off the cold or, if you are taking any meds like advil that will cause your temp to go up and down.
Well I was thinking flu, but your short of breath? Now, Im not a genious but isnt that something to do with your respirtory sytem?
it could be anything from allergies to arthritis.and by that i mean something very simple.and easily cured...or waited out.

or it could be something debilitating.

the best thing is to see the doc...

On an MRI, what does CNT mean?

I have to have an MRI on my spine, it says "lumbosacral with and without CNT". Tried googling this but still can't find out what CNT is.
Answer:
Cnt, means contrast and don't worry they inject it in your arm...not your spine...I have an MRI done for brain scans every year...
CNT is contrast media, they inject a contrast dye.
contrast
Contrast.

To make certain structures stand out better.

You will get an IV, it will (might, but probably will) make you feel very warm, but unless you have kidney problems, that's the only real side effect.

Good luck, hope your back feels better %26 they find what is causing your pain.

-Julie
I believe that means contrast. During an MRI they can give you an injection of contrast which helps the MRI pickup things such as lesions in the brain or on the spinal chord.
I believe CNT stands for Clinical Neurological Tests

On a spiritual level- how does one dissociate from pain and suffering?

this question is aimed at understanding how people are able counsel, treat rape victims or others who have gone through unimaginable atrocities
Answer:
You don't disassociate from it...you persevere with the hope that you'll make a positive impact.

On a spiritual level- how does one dissociate from pain and suffering?

this question is aimed at understanding how people are able counsel, treat rape victims or others who have gone through unimaginable atrocities
Answer:
You answered one of my questions so i clicked on your picture and i saw that i can answer your question (well try to anyway!)

I believe it is not easy to dissociate from pain and suffering. It is a process that once you have been working with people who have been through these terrible things that you naturally develop a sense of removal from it to protect yourself.

If you let their pain become yours then you wont be able to counsel them as effectively.

I know you believe in God so i can safely say that God will help you through it as well. (that is assuming that you are interested in working in this area). He will give you strength, renew you and counsel you as you do His work.

God bless
Looking at a higher purpose than sharing the grief. They focus on results they hope to obtain.
