i've been to 3 different doctors. none of them can tell me whats wrong. For over a month now i have had a sore throat, its too the point where i can't get anything but liquids down. I have a constent headache. i run a fever on and off every couple days. i'm always sick to my stomache(throwing up all the water and stuff i drink) and i've had a cough that i can't get rid of. I'm not on any meds that might have side affects, i've been tested for mono and strep. but nobody tells me anything they won't even give me anything to help with the pain. i don't know what to do!!
Answer:
There are hundreds of virus that can cause a sore throat beside Mono (such as coxackie, CMV , Influenza ,etc).I Strep is a bacterial cause of sore throat but other bacteria can also cause it, such as Mycoplasma (causes "Walking pneumonia") If I was your Dr. ( I am a pediatrician in New Hampshire), I would order a CBC , sed rate and blood culture- Also a CXR to r/o pneumonia- A course of antibx or steroids may also help. It may be unlikely that they will identify the actual cause of the infection (since we don't test for most viruses), but this should be a short time illness that can be treated with simple measures. So if your Private MD isn't helpful- go to the ER (too long a wait to go to an ENT and you need a referral and its expensive)- Good luck
You need to go to a specialist such as an EENT. You may have thyroid problems or a slight chance of cancer. Get to a doctor.
Keep up the doctor visits to the point of stalking them, its the only way to get them to listen to you. There must be 1 out there that will listen.
Tonsuls go ENT doctor (ear nose and throat speciallist ) it soundslike tonsulitus but maybe it might be more severe go to your hospital if it gets to bad . Your in my prayers.
There is a possibility you have something stuck in your throat,
for example a fish bone.
There is also a possibilty that you have a wart or orther small harmless growth. Don't panic!...they are easily removed and not life threatening.
You need to go and see an E.N.T. Specialist.
Good luck, hope you feel better very soon.
Thje fact that you are having difficulty swallowing is reason enough for a doctor to take your condition seriously; go back and make a nuisance of yourself if you have to.
Try an appointment with nurse/practitioner. ( Even a good dr. nowadays has no time to really "listen" to a person describe symptoms. ) At least you will be listened to seriously. Dr isn't listening well here.
id go see another doc. sounds more than a sore throat.. whats that ticks or inset bite would give you maybe lime spelling way off are you outdoors alot you need to have some test done
You can and should put your doctors on the spot as far as what may be wrong with you, and if needed go see an ENT doctor. I had something similar to what you are describing when I was pregnant with my youngest child. They suspected strep throat, but weren't able to actually culture it until almost a month afterwards. Strep is nortoriously had to catch and culture, even if you have spots on your tonsils for them to swab. It does give you the mother of all sore throats, and if you have, like I did, a sinus drainage along with it, you do just feel like the warmed up walking dead. I tried all the preps out there for sore throats, all the prescription stuff, and none of it helped. I had luck with Ibuprofen for the aches, an over the counter medication for the sinus drainage, and a throat spray that helped temprorarily numb my throat- Chloraseptic cherry flavored for kids matter of fact. I got to the point where if it wasn't liquid, it wasn't going down, and sometimes even that was no guarentee it would stay down. The ENT doctor said it was a nasty strep virus, and there was just nothing to do but wait it out. I drank loads of ice cold Ensure (I was pregnant and losing weight, at a point when I couldn't afford to), sipping on something ice cold every waking moment of the day. With the throat spray I could get down noodle soup and jello, puddings, and very soggy cereal. Straight milk made things feel thick and gluey, so I coughed more, and that tended to bring up the stomach contents, so I avoided shakes and ice cream. Frozen stuff like juice pops and cheapie koolaid pops always felt good as well. I think I slept most of the days, and it was just over a month before I started feeling human again. Actually, it was almost magical, I woke up one day feeling hungry and my throat wasn't nearly as sore as it had been. Within days I was back to my usual self, a little slower, but ravenous hungry and ate everything in sight. They decided I'd probably gotten the strep first, and then some other virus took advantage of things and moved in as well. My body just got swamped, so it took longer to recover. That may end up your trouble as well. I'm sorry you feel so rotten, I can definitely empathize. Just keep bugging the doctor if you have to, and rest and drink as much as you can. That's about all that will help. And if you don't get the answers you need, go see the ENT.
This is so typical of doctors. They only want easy to treat cases where they can give you a pill and fix the symptoms you are having rather than truly understanding what is going on with your body. If you take more than a few minutes of their time, most of them do not want to bother.
The sore throat issue may be tonsils, but there are many things that can cause this. If it is tonsils, you most likely have a problem with your other circulatory system, the lymphatic system. This is the way the body eliminates dead cells, cancer cells, etc. The fever most likely indicates a bacterial or viral infection. Inflammation is the way the body musters up the immune system and increase circulation of the blood to an area of the body where it needs nutrients, etc.
Without knowing more about the particulars, such as age, diet, etc. if it were me having this problem, I would build up the immune system and put it into high gear to allow the body to fight whatever is causing the problem while working on the exact cause. This will give you some relief you are looking for and buy you some time to figure it out.
If it were me, I would do the following:
Take 2 nucleotides every hour for 3 or 4 days, 1 teaspoon of powdered colostrum in juice in the morning and at night, 7 capsules of oleuropin (olive leaf extract) in the morning, 7 at lunch, and 7 at dinner per day, 3 allicidin (allicin extract from garlic) 3 times per day. I would also get some immunocidin and add several drops to your juice. This will help the flow of lymph and help eliminate the bad guys.
This may sound like a lot of stuff, but I would predict within 3 days you will greatly improve your condition. Each of these things listed play a big role in giving your body what it needs to fight infection, stabilize your immune system, and kill bacteria, virus, %26 fungus.
Doing this also does not keep you from doing other things that may work as well. All these items are natural healing and from food sources, so you won't get some weird so called side effects, other than some energy that will make you feel better.
Do not go to the local drug store and buy this stuff there. They have low grade herbs and bottles of pills that have been on their shelves for months. Go to this web site and order the products: www.healthline.cc (not .com).
Our health care system is really health abuse and I would not expect great help from them. I had a problem similar to yours years ago when I was a small child. I had sore throats so bad they almost had to do a tracheotomy on me to allow me to breathe. I spent about 4 years of my life going from doctor to doctor trying to get help. The best they did was to give me antibiotics, pennicilin shots, testing drugs, etc. The answer came when I found one doctor that realized that the problem was tonsil tags that had grown back from a tonsilectomy operation done by a bad doctor that was a needless operation. The years of antibiotics caused Candida Albicans that I lived with for many years and intestinal issues that plagued me through adulthood. The antibiotics drove the germs deep into my tissues and only because of my studies in nutrition have been able to fix that problem.
Listen to what doctors tell you, but question it all. They are giving you their opinions, but when what they are recommending is not working, don't be discouraged. I have found very few of them actually know how the body works and they won't spend the time it takes to get to the root cause of an issue. They want a quick pill fix that solves the problem.
Good luck to you
First, be very leery of any medical advice provided over the Internet. I highly suspect a few people who allege they are medical professionals. Their advice and terminology do not reflect a medical education.
Since you state three physicians cannot diagnose your condition, it is a reasonable assumption to rule out obvious diagnoses. Given the duration of your symptoms, I would refer you to an Immunologist. The reason for referring you to an Immunologist is this specialist can interpret your body's response to an invading pathogen, regardless of whether it is viral or bacterial.
